Individuals and businesses that want to protect a brand in Cyprus only. For protection across the EU, an EU trademark is filed with the EU Intellectual Property Office instead.
What goes with it
- Representation of the mark on the 'Mark's representation sheet', except for a word mark
- If you claim priority: a statement of the date and country of the earlier filing, a certified copy or filing certificate, and a certified Greek translation
- For a collective or certification mark: the regulations of use
- Supplementary sheets for goods and services or other information, where needed
- Fee: €141 for the first class and €102 for each extra class on paper (€129 and €94 online)

Common mistakes
- Filing without checking existing marks. The Intellectual Property Section advises an availability check first.
- Ticking 'word' for a logo. A stylised logo is a figurative mark and needs the representation sheet.
- Using vague class headings for classes 7, 37, 40 or 45. The form says they are not accepted as headings.
- Forgetting the regulations of use for a collective or certification mark.
- Claiming priority without the certified copy and Greek translation.
Questions
How much does it cost to register a trademark in Cyprus?
Online: €129 for the first class and €94 for each extra class. On paper: €141 and €102. Collective and certification marks cost €415 and €116 online, €443 and €128 on paper.
Can one application cover several classes?
Yes. Since 18/06/2020 one form can cover several classes, using the Nice classification.
Can I file the Cyprus trademark application online?
Yes, through the Intellectual Property Section's trademark e-filing system, once you have e-filing access.
Is there an English version of Ε.Σ.02?
No. The form is published in Greek only. This page gives the English for each section.
