Questions
Does private group health insurance replace GESY contributions in Cyprus?
No. The GESY law lists no exemption for people or employers with private insurance, so group cover is paid on top of contributions.
How much does an employer pay to GESY?
2.9% of each employee's pay, and the employee pays 2.65%. Contributions are charged on income up to €180,000 a year.
How do I check that an insurance broker is registered in Cyprus?
The Insurance Companies Control Service publishes a list of insurance brokers and a list of EU firms operating in Cyprus under freedom of services or establishment.
Is there a minimum team size for group health insurance?
Neither the GESY law nor the regulator's pages set one; the minimum depends on the insurer.
