Audit and annual return in Cyprus

Cyprus companies prepare annual financial statements and file an annual return (HE32) with the registrar. An audit is generally required; eligible private companies may use a statutory review instead, subject to the legal conditions. Late filing can bring penalties and affect the company's status.

Questions

Can my accountant also audit?

The audit is done by an auditor who is not the company's own bookkeeper, so bookkeeping and audit are usually handled by different firms.
