When is the Cyprus corporate tax return due?

From tax year 2026, by 31 January of the second year after the tax year, so the 2026 return is due by 31 January 2028. Provisional tax is paid in two instalments during the year, by 31 July and 31 December. We track both dates and file the return online.

Questions

Do dormant companies file?

Yes, a return is still due.

What rate applies?

15% from 1 January 2026 (12.5% up to 2025).

How is Cyprus corporate tax calculated?

On the accounting profit, adjusted by tax rules. Example for 2026: profit €250,000. Add back €15,000 of depreciation and €10,000 of costs that are not deductible. Deduct €12,000 of capital allowances and €20,000 of exempt dividends received. Taxable profit is €243,000. A €43,000 loss from 2024 brings it to €200,000. Tax at 15% is €30,000. With €26,000 paid as provisional tax, €4,000 is due with the return by 31 January 2028.

How long can a company carry forward tax losses?

Seven years from the end of the year in which the loss arose. A loss is lost if, within three years, the company changes owners and also substantially changes its business.

When is the corporate tax paid?

Provisional tax for the current year in two instalments, by 31 July 2026 and 31 December 2026. From tax year 2026 any balance is paid by the return deadline, 31 January of the second year after the tax year. After that date interest runs.

How long must the company keep its records?

Six years from the deadline for the tax return they support. That covers invoices, contracts, bank statements and the workings for the tax computation.
