Personal tax return in Cyprus

Up to tax year 2025 a return is due when gross income is above €19,500; from tax year 2026 every resident with income files, and residents aged 25–70 file even with no income, and non-residents file for Cyprus income. We prepare it, claim the exemptions you are entitled to and file on time.

Questions

Do I file if my income is abroad?

Yes, if you are Cyprus tax resident. Your Cyprus return reports worldwide income, including foreign salary, dividends, interest, rent and pensions. Tax paid abroad is credited under the tax treaty or Cyprus law, so the same income is not taxed twice.

How much tax on a €50,000 salary?

In 2026, social insurance of 8.8% (€4,400) and GESY of 2.65% (€1,325) are deducted first, leaving €44,275 taxable. The first €22,000 is tax-free, then €2,000 is due at 20%, €2,500 at 25% and €682.50 at 30%. Income tax is €5,182.50 and the net salary about €39,090.

What happens if I file late?

A fixed charge of €150 for an individual (Assessment and Collection of Taxes Law, section 50A). There is no charge when the Tax Department extends the deadline for everyone and you file within the extension. Tax paid late also carries interest.
