Common mistakes
- Not deleting the alternatives. Footnote 1 says delete what does not apply.
- The pet travelling more than five days before or after you, without justification. Then it no longer counts as accompanying you.
- A microchip number that differs from the health certificate.
- Forgetting to notify the District Veterinary Office of the entry point at least 48 hours before arrival.
- More than five pets. Above five the commercial rules apply unless the competition exemption is met.
Questions
Do I need this declaration to bring my dog to Cyprus?
Yes, when the pet comes from a non-EU country with an animal health certificate. The Veterinary Services say the declaration is part of that certificate.
What does non-commercial mean?
The pet accompanies its owner or an authorised person and is not to be sold or given to a new owner. It may travel up to five days before or after you, on justified grounds.
Can a pet transport company move my pet?
Yes. The declaration has a line for the person designated by the carrier you contracted.
Is this needed from an EU country?
No. From EU countries pets travel with an EU pet passport. This declaration belongs to the health certificate for entry from third countries.
