TD1101 form: registering for VAT in Cyprus, field by field

T.D.1101 is the four-page Greek form a business fills in to join the Cyprus VAT register. It asks why you are registering (only one reason), from which date, how much you expect to sell at each VAT rate and whom you trade with. This page translates every part.

How it is filed
Online, through Tax For All (TFA). You need a tax identification number first: the form says to register in the Tax Register through TFA and, once you have the TIN, send the VAT application. The Tax Department lists T.D.1101 among the forms for online registration, which it accepts only through TFA; from 1 July 2026 companies with an HE, AE or S number must log in with CY Login.

The file opens on the official government site. Checked 28 October 2026. CyprusPermit is a private company, not a government body or a law firm: we explain the form; its text is the department's own.

Who fills it in

Businesses and self-employed people who must register for VAT, for example when taxable supplies pass €15,600 in 12 months, and those registering voluntarily or because of EU purchases, services to EU businesses or the takeover of a going concern.

What goes with it

  • Individuals: identification document, such as a copy of the ID card or ARC
  • Legal persons and co-operatives: all certificates issued by the authority that registered them
  • A certificate from the Registrar of Companies if you use a trade name
  • Mandatory evidence of the reason for registration you choose in Part C
  • Takeover of a going concern: letter of takeover signed by both parties, stamped transfer agreement or a list of assets taken over, and VAT forms 204 or 103 where they apply

Common mistakes

  • Applying for VAT before you have a TIN. Register in the Tax Register through TFA first.
  • Ticking more than one reason in Part C. The form allows only one.
  • Sending no evidence for the reason chosen. Part C says evidence is mandatory.
  • Missing the 30-day expectation test: if you expect taxable supplies to pass €15,600 within 30 days, you must register.
  • Forgetting VAT forms 204 or 103 when taking over a whole going concern.

Questions

What is the VAT registration threshold in Cyprus?

€15,600 of taxable supplies in the last 12 months, or when you expect to exceed it within 30 days. For acquisitions of goods from other EU states the form shows €10,251.61 a calendar year.

Can I register for VAT voluntarily?

Yes. Part C (a) has options for businesses that intend to start, or already make, taxable supplies and have the right to register.

Is there an English version of T.D.1101?

No. The Tax Department publishes it in Greek only. This page gives the English for each line.

How often are VAT returns filed?
