Who fills it in
The owner of a vehicle being registered in Cyprus for the first time, other than cases the importer registers online. The RTD says new M1 cars and L1e–L7e motorcycles are registered online by the importer, and a used M1 car from a non-EU country must be registered online by an authorised importer. For a used vehicle from an EU member state you file TOM 6A yourself.
What goes with it
- Form TEL 72A from Customs, where necessary
- Invoice or packing list for the vehicle, with stamp duty attached (2 × €1.71 stamps)
- MOT certificate from an authorised testing centre (IKTEO) or a KEMO, where applicable
- Emissions certificate TOM 119, issued by a KEMO on request with form TOM 118
- Foreign registration certificate, with a Press and Information Office translation unless in Greek or English, and stamp duty (2 × €1.71 stamps)
- Valid road tax disc from the country of registration, where one was issued
- SVA approval (form TOM 139B) if the vehicle is left-hand drive
- Insurance certificate; the form says it must expire more than three months after the registration date
- For M2, M3, N2 and N3 vehicles: receipt for Ports Authority fees

Common mistakes
- Going to the RTD before the KEMO inspection. The RTD asks for TOM 6 completed and signed by a KEMO technician.
- Corrections or correction fluid. The form says it will not be accepted if it is not clean.
- Insurance that ends too soon. The form asks for a certificate expiring more than three months after registration.
- No TOM 119 emissions certificate for a used EU car. You request it from a KEMO with form TOM 118.
- A foreign registration document in another language without a Press and Information Office translation.
- Ticking legal form 1 without a Cypriot ID. The form marks box 1 'Cypriot ID only'.
Questions
Is TOM 6A the same as TOM 6?
The RTD page lists 'form TOM 6' for registration; the file the RTD publishes is TOM 6A, 'Application for registration of a vehicle'.
Who registers a used car from outside the EU?
The RTD says a used M1 car from a third country must be registered online by an authorised importer.
What do I need to register a used car from the EU?
TOM 6 signed at KEMO, Customs form TEL 72A where needed, the invoice with stamps, MOT certificate where applicable, the TOM 119 emissions certificate, the foreign registration certificate, insurance and, for left-hand drive, SVA approval.
Is there an English version of TOM 6A?
No. The RTD publishes it as a scanned Greek form. This page gives the English for each box.
