Who fills it in
Every person, company, partnership, cooperative or other entity that will employ staff in Cyprus. Registration must come before recruiting.
What goes with it
- Company: copies of the certificate of incorporation and the certificate of directors
- Cooperative: copy of the registration certificate
- Any other entity: a certificate from the competent authority
- VAT registration certificate and the first VAT return
- Rental agreement for the business premises
- Contract for the work undertaken (συμφωνία ανάληψης έργου)
- Documents proving the actual start date of the business, if it differs from the date on the incorporation or registration certificates

Common mistakes
- Hiring before registering. Every employer must be on the Register of Employers before recruiting.
- Using the 2011 bilingual sample. The current application is the three-page Greek form of 9/2021.
- Writing a trading name instead of the exact company name, or leaving out the company certificates.
- Notifying a hire on paper. New hires are notified only through ERGANI, by midnight before they start.
- Paying contributions late. They are due by the end of the month after the month they relate to.
Questions
What is the employer registration number used for?
Social Insurance Services say it is used to pay contributions and in every communication with them.
How do I notify a new employee?
Electronically through the ERGANI system, no later than one day before the employee starts.
What does an employer pay on salaries?
8.8% social insurance, plus 1.2% to the Redundancy Fund, 0.5% to the Human Resource Development Fund and 2% to the Social Cohesion Fund. GESY adds 2.9% for the employer.
Is there an English version of YKA 1-001?
Only an old bilingual sample from 2011, published for guidance. The current application is the Greek form.
