A guide based on published rules, not tax advice.

How it works

  1. 1

    Where from

Cars from the EU pay no duty; a nearly new one pays Cypriot VAT unless paid abroad by a mover.

  2. 2

    Moving here

From outside the EU a car owned 6+ months enters without duty and VAT.

  3. 3

    Road tax

By CO₂: WLTP divided by 1.30, slices from €0.50 to €10 a gram, up to €1,500.
