Common mistakes
- Submitting it without the employment termination letter.
- Marking the wrong period box. Count two years from the date you obtained the Blue Card.
- Missing the deadline for a new application. If none is filed within the permitted unemployment period, the form says the Blue Card is withdrawn.
- An unemployment start date that differs from the termination letter.

Where do I download the notification?
From the Migration Department's 'Application for EU Blue Card' forms page on gov.cy. It is a one-page Word file in Greek and English.
How long can a Blue Card holder be unemployed in Cyprus?
Up to 3 months in total if you have held the Blue Card for less than 2 years, and up to 6 months in total after 2 years, as printed on the form.
How do I end the unemployment period?
By submitting a new residence permit application within the permitted period. The form says this counts as notification that the unemployment has ended.
Can my employer submit it?
Yes. The department's Blue Card page says the notification can be submitted by the employee or the employer, with the termination letter.
