Release agreement Cyprus: change of employer form explained

Who fills it in

Third-country nationals on a single work permit (GEN) and their employers who agree to end the contract. A decision of the Department of Labour Relations (labour disputes) is the alternative when there is no agreement.

Common mistakes

Ticking both options in paragraph 3, or neither. Choose one.
Signing without two witnesses.
Waiting too long. The worker has 30 days from signing to find a new employer, and the checklist accepts the release for up to 30 days from issue.
Choosing immediate termination and not declaring a new residence address for the 30 days.
Handing in a copy instead of the original, which the checklist asks for.

Questions

Where do I download the release agreement?

From the Migration Department's single permit (GEN) forms page on gov.cy, listed as 'Συμφωνία Αποδέσμευσης / Release Agreement'. It is a one-page PDF in Greek and English.

How long do I have to find a new employer?

Thirty days from the date of signing. If you do not find one, the agreement says you must leave the Republic.

Can I change employer without a release?

The MGEN3 employer-change checklist accepts either the original release agreement or a decision of the Department of Labour Relations (labour disputes).

Is there a fee?

No fee is mentioned for the agreement itself. The renewal application with the new employer has its own fees.
