Immigration office Limassol: the Aliens and Immigration Unit

If you live in Limassol district, residence applications go to the Police Aliens and Immigration Unit on Franklin Roosevelt Avenue, not to the Migration Department in Nicosia. Visits are by email appointment, and a large share of Limassol's work and company permits are filed only in Nicosia. This guide sets out what is filed where, with the official contacts checked on 23 October 2026.

Where the Limassol immigration office is and when it opens

The office most people call "immigration in Limassol" is the Limassol unit of the Police Aliens and Immigration Service. It is part of the Cyprus Police but works on behalf of the Migration Department of the Deputy Ministry of Migration and International Protection.

  • Address: 223 Franklin Roosevelt Avenue, 3046 Limassol.
  • Hours: Monday to Friday 07:30–14:30, last entry 13:30, closed on public holidays.
  • Email for appointments: limetiseis@police.gov.cy.
  • Phone: 25 80 56 50 or 25 80 52 10.

Three other offices you may need for a residence file are on the same avenue: the Limassol Social Insurance District Office at no. 80, the EOA Lemesos water cashier and customer service at no. 76, and the VAT district office, also at no. 76.

How to book an appointment in Limassol

The Limassol unit does not have an online booking calendar. You email limetiseis@police.gov.cy, and the Migration Department asks for the request at least one month before your current permit or entry visa expires.

Send one request per family, with each person's details in capital letters as an attachment:

  • name and surname, date of birth, nationality;
  • passport number and date of last arrival in Cyprus;
  • alien registration number (ARC) and file number, if you have them;
  • expiry date of the residence permit;
  • number of people applying and a local phone number.

The answer comes by email within five working days, with the date and time. You can change or cancel through the same email thread. The department asks you not to send the request twice.

What you file in Limassol, online or in Nicosia

Filed at the Limassol unit if you live in Limassol district: yellow slips for EU citizens (MEU1) and residence cards for their non-EU family members (MEU2), visitor permits (pink slips), family members of Cypriots, remunerated employment and domestic work, and student residence permits.

Filed only at the Nicosia head office, wherever you live: companies of foreign interests, EU Blue Card, intra-corporate transfers, digital nomads, start-up visa, family reunification of third-country nationals, long-term resident status and Immigration Permits. For the categories marked this way on the department's list (for example foreign-interest company staff and digital nomads), fingerprints and photo can be taken later at the Limassol unit instead of in Nicosia.

Online: renewals for remunerated employment and domestic work (60 to 30 days before expiry), foreign-interest company staff, long-term residents and their family members (90 to 30 days) can be filed on gov.cy with a verified CY Login. From 1 January 2027 renewals in these categories are accepted only online.

Limassol residents can use the Nicosia offices for other applications only through an authorised representative whose office is in Nicosia.

Documents to bring, by permit type

Yellow Slip (MEU1), employed or self-employed EU citizen: passport or ID card with a copy; Part III of the form signed and stamped by the employer; a Social Insurance registration certificate and statement of contributions (self-employed: four months of contributions); a title deed or a rental contract stamped and with certified signatures, rent receipts, and an original EAC or water bill in your name. In Limassol the water account is opened with EOA Lemesos; the tenant deposit is €250 and the owner deposit €50, so open it early if you need the bill for your file.

Visitor permit (Pink Slip): form MVIS8, passport, proof of income from abroad (see the Paphos and Nicosia guides for the full list), Plan A health insurance, a Cypriot bank guarantee for repatriation and a title deed or stamped rental contract.

Non-EU spouse or child of an EU citizen (MEU2): apply within four months of entry; the fee is €20.

Every foreign document must be in Greek or English or officially translated, with an apostille or consular legalisation. Bring originals together with copies.

Waiting and processing times

The Migration Department publishes processing times for complete files; they apply to Limassol applications too, because the decision is taken centrally:

  • Yellow Slip (MEU1): within one month, €20;
  • MEU2 residence card: within six months, €20;
  • visitor permit (Pink Slip): usually within four months, €70 plus €70 first registration;
  • remunerated employment: within four months, €120 first permit or €130 renewal, plus €70 first registration.

No official figure exists for how far ahead Limassol appointment slots are. The only published commitment is the five-working-day reply to your email. Check progress by SMS: send STATUS and your application number to 1199 (€0.034 per SMS).

Practical tips for the Limassol office

Practical advice, not official rules.

  • Arrive well before 13:30. After last entry you will not be let in even with an appointment.
  • Keep the confirmation email on your phone and bring a printout.
  • Fill in the forms at home. The department asks you to print them from gov.cy/mip-md before you come.
  • If your permit is about to expire and you have no reply yet, keep proof that you emailed in time. Do not send a second request.
  • Decisions are posted. Give an address where post reaches you, and update it if you move.

CyprusPermit is not a law firm or a government body. We prepare the file and keep track of the dates; where a representative is needed, a licensed advocate submits it. See Yellow Slip help and Pink Slip help.
